Tonight Robin Bartoletti and I had the honor of talking with Dr. Chuck Severance. Dr. Severance shared some of his background and expertise in creating instructional videos that help establish instructor presence. He is such a delight to talk to that it was hard to keep it to 30 minutes.

1. Be human – Be real: Students want to know you, the real you.
2. Eye contact – Make eye contact but also stop, pause, and think. This allows the instructor experience to align with the student experience.
3. Make mistakes it is not failing. Don’t edit our the mistakes, it is the mistakes that makes it human.
